MAY 2014:

Craig Kier Appointed Director of the the Maryland Opera Studio

College Park, MD: Mr. Kier will succeed the great stage director Leon Major as the next Director of the Maryland Opera Studio at the University of Maryland School of Music. In addition to conducting several shows there each season he aims to focus the energies of the many musical aspects of the graduate program. He will join the faculty in Fall of 2014. Full story.

 

Craig Kier Announces 2014/15 Season

Houston, TX: Performances include company debuts with Opera Birmingham and Opera Santa Barbara, as well as a return to the Houston Ballet. Craig to Conduct Hamlet with Opera Birmingham

Birmingham, AL: In the 2014/15 season Conductor Craig Kier will make his company debut with Opera Birmingham. Soprano Leah Partridge and baritone Corey McKern will sing the lead roles in a Dona D. Vaughn directed production. Performances are January 23 and 25, 2015. More information.

NOV 2013:

Craig Prepares for Albert Herring with Maryland Opera Studio

College Park, MD: Writes Cara Hedgepeth of Gazette.net, "Houston-based conductor Craig Kier is conducting the piece. A graduate of SUNY Fredonia in New York City, Kier currently spends most of his time working with the Houston Grand Opera and the Houston Ballet. Recently, he’s been frequently making the trip to and from College Park to work with the Maryland Opera Studio students. "I’ve actually been there several times,” Kier said. “We spent the first week coaching it musically and putting all of the ensembles together ... Craig Kier Returns to The Santa Fe Opera

Santa Fe, NM: Rounding out his 2012/13 season Mr. Kier returns to the internationally acclaimed Santa Fe Opera Festival to serve as assisant conductor for Rossini's La donna del lago starring

Houston, TX: In the 2013/14 season Craig will make his conducting debut with Lyric Opera of Kansas City conducting La bohème. Craig Kier travels to Oman

Cooperstown, NY: Mr. Kier travels to Oman with Glimmerglass Opera to make his conducting debut at the famed Royal Opera House in the capital city of Muscat. He will lead performances of The Music Man.
